Mentors and Students,
So as just about everyone is aware, application submissions are now
closed for GSoC. Over the next 10 days or so, the applications will
be reviewed and discussed. Do check back on http://
socghop.appspot.com/ from time to time to see if there have been
comments posted or select the "Subscribe to updates" option on the
individual application(s) and you'll get an e-mail notification when
changes are made.
We will more than likely be selecting between 2 and 5 students.
There were approximately 18 applications received.
Students,
Please do be sure to check your submission periodically (recommend at
least daily) to see if a comment has been posted. In particular, we
will be asking for clarification and updates on just about all
applications. The general trend on most applications is that they
are lacking in detail or need a better fleshed out timeline. If you
like and have not done so already, you're welcome (and encouraged) to
post your application to your BRL-CAD wiki user page and respond to
our comments and requests for clarification/detail there. Having
your development plan on the wiki is required if you are selected.
Mentors,
You're welcome to start reviewing and commenting on the
applications. I'll send out another private e-mail with details on
ranking and selections. For now, focus on asking questions, asking
for detail where the application is vague, get to know the students
and their project ideas, etc. If something isn't clear or you think
something in the application should be changed/clarified/discussed,
please do let them know! Comments can be made public (student
+mentor) and private (mentor-only).
