I put in a request to de-k-line the server (which dozens of folks use). At least once before, this has been a naive/new freenode staffer that isn't used to dealing with servers (or realizing that several other freenode staffers connect through the same server).
In the past, the cause of the problem was someone abusing #freenode from one of the various web-based IRC instances running on the server. The server hosts many websites, several of them with a CGI:IRC installation for their community (BRL-CAD included). It should be unbanned later today as soon as I can get ahold of a staffer. Cheers!
