For what it's worth, the new conversion code is going live with this next patch 
release.  The conversion check hasn't been fully re-run yet but it should 
definitely make it farther on some models.

The sh/facetall.sh script will do this for you as well, in case you didn't 
know.  It's a testing script but it'll run facetize on all individual regions 
which definitely helps a conversion to succeed.  A little manual 
post-processing (which can be fully scripted) will replace non-BoT regions with 
BoT regions.

That really belongs as a proper (i.e., non-script) command, but it's a 
work-in-progress that only works around the problem by not making so much work 
for the tessellation engine (i.e., original failure cases will still fail, 
they're just less likely to occur).
