Accession Number : ADA000897

Title : Extensions and Adjuncts to the BRL-COMGEOM Program.

Descriptive Note : Final rept. Sep 72-Dec 73,

Corporate Author : MATHEMATICAL APPLICATIONS GROUP INC ELMSFORD N Y

Personal Author(s) : Brooks,Joan

Report Date : AUG 1974

Pagination or Media Count : 45

Abstract : The tasks completed under this contract and described in
the report are: (1) The addition to the list of available body types
of two new bodies, the general ellipsoid and the 'arbitrary quadric
surface'; (2) The development of a geometry preprocessor program
capable of producing GIFT input from a more limited, user-oriented,
set of descriptions; (3) Development of a BRL-COMGEOM model of the
M109A1 tank. The first two tasks are described in some detail. The
modeling task is embodied in an input deck for the GIFT code and is
described briefly in the last section.

Title : The Gift Code User Manual. Volume I. Introduction and Input
Requirements.

Descriptive Note : Final rept.,

Corporate Author : BALLISTIC RESEARCH LABS ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND MD

Personal Author(s) : Bain,Lawrence W. , Jr. ; Reisinger,Mathew J.

Report Date : JUL 1975

Pagination or Media Count : 60

Abstract : This report is a user's manual which describes the input
requirements of the GIFT code. The primary input to the GIFT code is
target description data which defines the three-dimensional shape and
spacial location of the components of a target. A target may be a
tank, a truck, a building or any other physical structure. To prepare
target description data, engineering drawings, photographs, technical
and reference manuals and/or any other data which describe the
three-dimensional shape and space of components of the target are
required.

Title : The Gift Code User Manual. Volume II. The Output Options.

Descriptive Note : Final rept.,

Report Date : SEP 1979

Pagination or Media Count : 202

Abstract : The Geometric information for Targets (GIFT) code is a
FORTRAN language code used to mathematically describe the geometry of
a three-dimensional vehicle such as a tank, truck or helicopter. The
geometric data generated by the GIFT code is merged in vulnerability
computer codes with the energy effects data of a selected munition to
simulate the probabilities of malfunction or destruction of components
when it is attacked by the selected munition. To simulate the geometry
of a vehicle, the GIFT code uses combinatorial geometry (COM-GEOM)
data. The COM-GEOM data consists of three tables: a Solid Table, a
Region Table, and a Region Identification Table. The GIFT code
contains numerous tests and checks to ensure that COM-GEOM data listed
in these three tables is correct. The GIFT code options include those
which graphically display the vehicle, those which check the
correctness of the geometry data, those which compute physical
characteristics of the vehicle, and those which generate the geometric
data used by vulnerability codes. The user manual describes the tests
made on the COM-GEOM data, the output options and the output generated
by the GIFT code.
