Moving to CMake was a good move in retrospect, and anyone using BRL-CAD has to expect modern practices and improvements. In fact, I believe we ought to move to C99 instead of C89 for the C standard (I want // comments!), but I guess in order to support Windows that won't ever happen according to wikipedia.
