If you are having problems building BRL-CAD on Ubuntu, and you have no
preference to the flavor of Linux you use, I would suggest you setup a
development environment with "Fedora 16 Desktop Edition" (64-bit if your PC
supports it) and select the "Software Development" package group during
installation. This is what I use at home and it works well. The software
development package will give you 99% of what you need to build BRL-CAD. I
am available via the "BRL-CAD Developer Mailing List" typically
Monday-Friday 1300-2130 UTC.
