That's certainly "a solution", but not exactly the most portable or ideal 
solution since that obviously makes it stop working on 64b windows.  A patch 
that avoids that whole off_t ifdef hackery altogether is what would make for a 
golden ticket submission.

That said, yet another patch was applied a few hours ago that should get things 
working again on non-Windows platforms (but still using the hacky ifdef'ness).
