Hm, now they disappear.  I just get a blue background and the new (awesome) 
performance monitor in the bottom left corner.  If I rotate the invisible model 
really quickly, it'll display the model briefly for a frame or two, but then 
goes back to blue.

Autodesk is a huge company.  Several people's entire job is to research what 
everyone else is doing and to strategize how to increase their market share.  
As open source, we will eventually be a threat they cannot easily counter 
except through proprietary formats.  That's one of many reasons why we must 
specialize in and fully support standards like STEP.
