I don't know of any other downsides apart from what you said. As far as I
know non-blocking checking when involving user input is not recommended. I
think a better approach for not consuming CPU would be to wait for Qt
events blocking and deal with all Tk events non-blocking. I will try this
approach today and see if everything works as expected.
