I'm happy to announce that BRL-CAD was indeed selected to attend the Google Doc
Camp!
As we had much more interest in attending than there are slots for attending,
decisions will need to be made on who to send. Those selected to attend are
going to have a series of meetings/homework beforehand to become familiarized
with the state of our existing documentation. It's going to be an intense
week, so we need to be prepared to be productive. You will have to move
quickly on this!
Two or three attending will be experienced contributors. Two or three will be
relatively inexperienced / new.
As we have exactly five slots and just this weekend to sort our our attendee
list, I'd like everyone seriously interested to submit a brief writing sample
that describes the following ideally in less than 250 words:
1) What, if any, background do you have with documentation? With open source
documentation? With BRL-CAD's documentation?
2) Why would you like to attend? What do you hope to accomplish for yourself?
for BRL-CAD?
3) What do you think will be the best new piece of documentation we should
focus on for BRL-CAD? Why?
Do NOT include those questions in your reply... Just write and be sure to
those questions get answered. Be articulate, precise, grammatically correct,
brief, and clear in your thoughts. Make sure you are available [1] to attend!
Send your paragraph back to me directly before mid-day (1700 UTC) Saturday, but
the sooner the better.
Be prepared to fill out other information this weekend if you're selected.
Preference will be given to people with commit access or that previously
responded. However, even if you didn't originally respond and are now
interested, feel free to send your paragraph for consideration too.
Cheers!
Sean
