The r58250 fix works but IMHO it's a little wordier than my original version..
I have reverted the init stuff in my working copy and moved the
xferbuf init from the header ("= {0}") to the BU_* init macro.
That gives a good compile. Opinion?

P.S. I haven't finished fleshing out the *3 method yet so don't know
the whole story yet.
