Beyond that, I suggest perhaps trying to make some useful change to BRL-CAD 
that will help you become familiarized with the code (this will take some time) 
and will help you find what interests you.  BRL-CAD is large with very many 
possibilities, so what project you work on will be highly dependent upon your 
interests and skill level. 

Ask questions, try to be on IRC as much as possible, try a small (TINY) coding 
task.  Perhaps a GCI task that wasn't completed (also on the google-melange.com 
website).
