Aditi, there is already very much done here. Anurag did most of the work in 2012's Summer of Code (http://brlcad.org/wiki/User:Anuragmurty). You should consult the references Sean gave you, test the voxelize command in mged and the g-voxel program. In your proposal you should point out then what you want to do on top of this.
