Selected GSoC students, Only one of you (thank you Ankesh!) have filled out your profile on http://brlcad.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2014 so please take care of this as soon as possible. We're waiting to send out our public announcement until after you all do this. See my prior e-mail with details on this and other things you should be doing now to get started.
Everyone should be familiar with downloading and compiling BRL-CAD from a checkout by now, even if you're going to be working on web infrastructure. Please don't let us find out in a week or two that you still haven't compiled... It takes a while but is not hard, there's a detailed INSTALL file to help you, and there are many on IRC that can help if you stay connected. ;-) Everyone else, We were accepted to participate in the European Space Agency's Summer of Code in Space (SOCIS)! That means we'll have one more student joining this summer with a specific scientific focus. If you are a student that didn't get selected, this is a another opportunity to engage early, prepare an impressive proposal, and demonstrate your coding ability. If any dev or former GSoC is interested in mentoring our one SOCIS student, please let me know. Cheers!
