Hi all,

I can reproduce the error, and have some additions:

* the submodel object is created despite the error;

* opening again the geometry DB file with the submodel will work, ls
will show the object, but any operation (I tried 'l', 'B', 'get') on the
submodel object will fail with the same error;

I had a short look in the code, but it is beyond my current patience to
figure out where is the VLS pointer which is not really a VLS coming
from. Possibly some external representation changed but the parsing code
was not updated ?

I doubt the submodel primitive is working at all currently, that's why
the question in the subject... what is the status of this primitive, is
it properly maintained or should we ignore it for wrapping in
python-brlcad ?

Cheers,
Csaba
