Good thought indeed. You can install FreeBSD on your system and try to deploy your project there. Keep your eye on steps / dependencies and problems faced and once you succeed, you can contact concerned people here (probably maths22) to help you get things setup on BRL-CAD production server. I know it might take some time but we cannot do things we are not sure about directly on production server. So if you make it happen even after evaluations, no worries.
