Hi All, In case you hadn’t heard the news, our GSoC 2015 application was accepted! This means we will be accepting students to work on BRL-CAD, LibreCAD, OpenSCAD, STEPcode, and LinuxCNC this year! That’s at least one student each, with some returning orgs getting multiple students if there are strongly qualified applicants that demonstrate solid technical ability.
Mentors: Please help clean up the ideas page, fill in project details, and indicate priority interest if there’s an area you want worked (an extra column to indicate this would be great). I encourage you to post announcements to your own and any other relevant mailing lists you belong to (it’d be nice to mention all five orgs). Students: Any of you listening can follow http://brlcad.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/Checklist and you should start working on a patch / pull request immediately. You should also introduce yourself and get to know existing developers (though understand all are often busy). You should prepare to demonstrate your technical ability (patch/pullreq) as well as be socially interactive (don’t be shy, we don’t bite hard). If you ask a question on IRC, be respectful and stay / wait for a response (which might take hours). Best of luck to everyone all around! Cheers!
