Hi Sean,

Sadly I don't think I can countinue that, because I'm not familiar with
Python, I would have taken the PHP road if it were a new project.
I'm also thinking of doing the materials database. I see that last year a
MediaWiki extension was made. Could you elaborate me on why it is a MW
extension? When I look at that project I'm thinking of making a central
database like the benchmark database that was made last year.

*And here is a little about myself* (I should probably start making a CV
because I'm sure I'll forget something):

I'm Viktor Bán and I'm from Hungary (GMT+1). I'm currently a 2nd year
computer software engineer student in Budapest University of Technology and
Economics.

*Programming languages:*
Regarding web development I'm comfortable with PHP (& MySQL), HTML
(planning on getting into HTML5 more), JavaScript (jQuery), CSS and basic
photoshopping.
Regarding desktop development my favourite language is C#, I also know
C/C++ (I'm planning to get more familiar with C++11 and C++14), Java (I
probably know this more than any of what I listed before)
Regarding version control I'm using Git (and GitHub).
Although my primary os is Windows I'm familiar with basic UNIX stuff (I'm
not a kernel wizard (yet), but I can get stuff to work for example on a
Debian server).

*Projects I've worked on:*
I haven't worked on really big projects, mostly I made my own projects.

   - Here is <http://todays.hu> a website I made for a hungarian chemicals
   company called Today Science Kft.
   - Made this before starting the university, so I was a self-educated
programmer which led to mistakes (no OOP, coded the whole thing from
scratch (not even a framework or a single library was used (only a text
editor for the admin page)), didn't use version control, UX on the admin
      page could be better)
      - Here are

<https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8E00Wg_S5mefnJHbEZIQUZXcXNHV0lhaXV2cnVhRjNNMGVQYjBENE9feFA4WEozN296amM&usp=sharing>
some screenshots I made of the admin panel
      - There is a lot of things I would do differently today about this
      project regarding code and UI
   - Also worked on a new website for a company working in the building
industry, it was close to being done but they didn't want to pay and that's
where it stopped (sadly this happens here in Hungary a lot). (built it on
CodeIgniter framework, looked pretty nice in my opinion)
   - I'm currently working on a highly customizable PHP&MySQL application
   install script for codecanyon.net
   - Started working on an open source download manager written in C#. It
doesn't have a single line of code yet, it's still in the modeling stage
   - The university is teaching us programming in teams this semester, I
was chosen to be the leader of my team (which consists of 4 people), so
when the GSoC coding starts I will probably have more experience in that
   too.

*Software dev. areas I'm interested in:*
Web development, home automation (I'm currently working on a small project
that uses Raspberry PI as an online thermostat with scheduling, graphs,
mobile compatibility), and basically anything that I find useful for
myself. I'm not decided on this topic yet.

*What interested me in the benchmark project:*
I've always liked the idea of centralized useful informations. Also
generating graphs (everybody loves graphs).
I hope I will get to work on the centralized materials database despite not
being able to make graphs in this project.

Regards,
Viktor
