Devs et al., Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be moving to a new dedicated hosting provider and new server hardware over the next week. We’ve been with our current hosting provider for 10+ years, but we’re overdue a change(*).
That said, some things will remain the same. It’ll still be a FreeBSD dedicated server that we self-manage, but we’ll be in a California datacenter now on a gigabit link. Machine specs are similar to our current host, except for faster disk and pipe access: 16GB RAM, 8 Core Xeon-D, 500 GB SSD, 10TB transfer. Those of you that have accounts, please clean up your home directories, delete unneeded data, delete your unmodified BRL-CAD checkouts and unused binary build dirs, etc. That will help the transition happen more quickly. User account data will probably be copied over the weekend. Cheers! Sean (*) quite possibly on failing hardware too given the recent unexpected events ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Transform Data into Opportunity.
