You're more likely to find the log files on Linux or Mac as that's where the 
method being used to acquire the trace works best.  They are also only created 
if it's a crash that can be gracefully handled (some cannot and it'll still 
crash). If people have BRL-CAD bomb logs (or MacOSX crash reports) on their 
system, though, it's useful to get those so we can look into the more impacting 
problems first.  Even old logs can be useful.

I started implementing a system similar to what Firefox provides where a crash 
dialog pops up when a crash is encountered and you can send a report back to 
the developers if you chose to do so, but it wasn't taken to completion.  If 
that sounds like a useful resource for more conveniently submitting crash 
reports, the effort could be revitalized.
