Hi: The latest apk has a number of changes.
The letters for three of the global actions have been changed. Quick Settings has been changed from q (dots 12345) to s (dots 234). Device Status has been changed from s (dots 234) to d (dots 145). Window Title has been changed from w (dots 2456) to t (dots 2345). Support for selecting text and interacting with Android's clipboard has been added. How to select text needs a proper description, so I'll get to that in a moment. The rest of the commands are, like the global actions, invoked via Space + Dots78 + a letter. They are: x (dots 1346) cuts the selected text to Android.s clipboard. c (dots 14) copies the selected text to Android's clipoard. v (dots 1236) pastes text from Android's clipboard. a (dot 1) selects all of the text. Dot 4 clears the text selection. There are two commands for selecting text, but both of them require new key bindings (but see below for a new preference setting). Neither of them has been added to any of the key tables (yet). One of the text selection commands involves pressing two routing keys at the same time, and selects the text starting at the left one and ending at the right one. I personally think that a long press of both keys would be a good candidate, but some braille devices don't support either two routing keys at once and/or long key presses. The other text selection command involves pressing nly one routing key, and enters text selection mode. I personally think that a long press would be good for this one, too, but, again, some braille devices don't support that. When in text selectino mode, pressing routing keys changes the other end of the selection. In other words, one end of the selection is where the routing key that entered text selection mode was, and the other end changes based on the most recently pressed routing key. The attribute underlining feature shows which text is currently selected. It can span multiple lines, but, of course, it can't span multiple screen elements. Now for that new preference: It's called Start Text Selection (better names are welcome), and can be found at the bottom of the Navigation Options submeu. It defaults to No. When set to Yes, the routing key where the cursor is becomes the key that enters text selection mode (the others continue to route the cursor). This allows text selection to be easily performed without any key table changes. I personally set the attributes underline to be blinking, which is a way to immediately know when text selection has been initiated. -- I believe the Bible to be the very Word of God: http://Mielke.cc/bible/ Dave Mielke | 2213 Fox Crescent | WebHome: http://Mielke.cc/ EMail: [email protected] | Ottawa, Ontario | Twitter: @Dave_Mielke Phone: +1 613 726 0014 | Canada K2A 1H7 | _______________________________________________ This message was sent via the BRLTTY mailing list.
