The ebuild is here -- I can change it. The area where its doing this
says:

     insinto /etc
             doins Documents/brltty.conf
                     udev_newrules Autostart/Udev/rules 70-brltty.rules
                             newinitd "${FILESDIR}"/brltty.rc brltty
                                     systemd_dounit
             Autostart/Systemd/[email protected]
                     systemd_dotmpfilesd "${FILESDIR}/${PN}.tmpfiles.conf"

I wonder what to change to get this working? What should I ask on the
gentoo mailing list?

Thanks.

Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is:
How do
you spend it?
