As I recall, the contraction table isn't saved with your preferences.
However, you can specify it in /etc/brltty.conf.

Hi everyone,
And happy new year! I'm facing a very small issue in BRLTTY. The
original key binding for the braille display I'm using (activbraille
from Handytech) doesn't seem to work for most things, including
opening the preferences and saving them. Besides I wasn't too happy
with the original bindings so I updated some of them. I can open the
preferences (great!) and change whatever I want in them.
The problem comes after that: in the preferences, I've noted that my
overridden bindings don't work, so I have to use the "older" ones, the
default ones, while in the menu. That's understandable. But since
the default binding for "save the preferences" doesn't work for me, I
can't save these preferences. I can close them just fine but of
course, on restart, most of them are wiped clean. Which is strange
because the "save preferences on exit" is indeed set to "yes" by
default, and some preferences seem to have survived a reboot. Not
sure why, but the Braille table is definitely one I have to update
each time.
It's not really much of a problem, but I would like to understand it a
bit more. Any suggestion?
Thanks!
Vincent
