Hi all,

I did a bit of a distro hop while the display whent in for it's medical, and, still being on Fedora at the time, I thought I'd see if I can stay with it for a while.

Unfortunately I got a few errors after plugging the display in to the laptop, and finding that the Braille didn't come up automatically as I am use to.

I tried starting BRLTTY, as root

$ sudo brltty

and that's when my issues started.

I got a rather long list of errors, most of them in the line of "you are not a member of, so and so group; do something about it"

unfortunately, I don't have the inclination to try and fix stuff I know work somewhere else already.

My issue is as follows, why do those of us that actually rely on Braille to get stuff done have to "fix" something that, for those that only use speech is no issue at all.

Please note, I am a grateful user of BRLTTY, just tired of having to fight to get my stuff to work.

Another example of unneeded hardship, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I cannot use my display at all in that distro, since they ship BRLTTY 6.0 which doesn't support the BrailleOne from Humanware.

Why, oh why?

Sorry for my rant on a topic that is rather close to my heart.
