Is this perhaps related to the recent legacy_tiocsti removal from the
kernel? Try the following in a root console and see if you can input then:

sysctl dev.tty.legacy_tiocsti=1

I just joined this list, so I don't know if there's perhaps a better
solution that has already been discussed in other threads. I know that
Samuel is working on a better solution in the kernel:
