Actually, you can do chmod with sudo as long as you have admin permissions on
your Mac. You just enter your own user password in the password prompt after
sudo and the command. This is no problem if you are using /opt/local. If you
already have Macports installed and have done some upgrading and installing of
ports with it, you have already used sudo successfully. If it had been
installed from source, it should have been able to run successfully without
changing permissions but you still should be able to do this with the screen
you were sent provided it is working correctly. Once you are done installing
both brltty and screen, you will be able to run both brltty and screen without
using sudo or root permissions of any kind.

May I ask what you hav done so far. If we make sure this is done in a
systematic order it will be much easier to help you figure out what is or isn't
working, why or why not, and what to do next.

What is your setup? What Mac version are you running? Have you successfully
been able to do the compile and install of brltty and are you doing it from
github?

Are you using Macports, in which case, you already are using sudo?

I apologize if I have missed a post but it isn't clear to me where you are in
this process so far.

I would get brltty installed first if you haven't already. You won't be able to
run it yet but then you can work on screen.

Well, I can only execute if I am root, not even as the regular admin
user. I put it in /opt/local/bin and that is where other port
installs are.

Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is:
How do
you spend it?
