I was given a demonstration of one earlier this year. It was impressive.
I found the keyboard layout awkward, but that may have been my fault - the
display was on a low table, and I reached down to it from above. The keyboard
is probably easier to use when reached from in front.

Yes, that's a disadvantage. Some of the newer devices (note takers, mostly,
including products from HumanWare and HIMS) are now using Android as their
operating system. I don't know what Handy Tech are using as the underlying OS
(or HIMS in their Braille Edge product, which I haven't seen).
