Lee and all: I just also installed debian Lenny beta 2 via vmware fusion, using brltty to install. No, I'm not running lenny, ubuntu, windows and Macosx all at once!!! At any rate, I have the same issues with Lenny that I did with Hardy--unhappy sounds from the braillelite, able to read the line I'm on but problems set in as soon as I use the advance bar. But I'm not sure this is a case of multiple brltty instances because if I killall brltty it usually terminates brltty, though sometimes I get something with 5 or 6 symbols tht has a couple of tildes in the middle. At least in debian I can switch to grade two at least in the consoles. When I try to access preferences with the brltty keyboard, I get I 9J in both systems, though it may not always be uppercase.
I've been starting to wonder if the problem is related to vmware fusion or some coflict as to which system owns the port being used, though I don't see any evidence of the Macosx usbserial device when i conncect it in another system. I don't have any problems with my braillelite in Windows under vmware fusion but I also don't have any problems with my braillelite in debian on my dual boot ppc system. I can still use the braille somewhat, but it is a real pain; sometimes when I want to see the output of a command I send it to a file because than I can open it in an editor and read the lines with better success. I'll keep playing with it and maybe eventually I'll find the answer. Btw I don't apear to have "braille=ask" in my /boot/grub/menu.lst; ther must be certain conditions that cause this to be included. -- Cheryl "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." _______________________________________________ This message was sent via the BRLTTY mailing list.
