Hello Dave, I have a pm display 40, by Freedom Scientific. I never experienced problems in previous Ubuntu versions, so again, I believe it's more of an Ubuntu issue.
My husband helped me with the installation, and he says he had to do several things: 1. He went to BRLTTY.conf, and entered the type of device and type of connection (usb). 2. Then he went to /etc/default, and changed the "No" to "Yes" in the file called BRLTTY. That's it, I believe. Hope this helps.
