This is indeed a possibility. Another would be to add it to brltty.conf and
leave the default as loading pcspkr.

As of Linux 2.6.30, the beeps, at least on my system, are now being handled by
Alsa, and the pitch control (either in Brltty's beeps or by running setterm
-bfreq) doesn't work properly.

Part of this is kernel related, but there may be other upgraded libraries
involved.
