ruler was set.
I set it to noruler but nothing changed.

If I use vim or emacs in screen when pressing a cursor routing key I hear the error sound like when I press that keys in a program where cursor moving is not available.

If I switch screen off the problem no more exists.

I'm working on arch linux with a baum braille display:
- screen version = 4.0.3
- vim version = 7.3.294
- emacs version = 23-3

Could it depend from gpm? (gpm is not started on my pc)

When I use vim in a screen console cursor routing doesn't work. In other
programs like nano cursor routing still works fine.
I use screen all the time and don't have this problem. I'd like you to check
out a guess, though. Could you check if you have the ruler setting enabled? If
so, could you try setting it to noruler and then see if the problem goes away?
