Well, if this emulpc mode is for DOS, my suspicion is that the braille display becomes the control master in that case, and it is probably only querying the PC for its video memory text content so to keep the PC side "driver" as small and unintrusive as possible. If this is actually the case then this mode is counter-productive for BRLTTY. Pretty unfortunate that they decided to give such misleading names to those modes though.
