So, Dave... I'm just bumping my issue up :)

Any thoughts on my Alva?  I think it's not a common problem if most users are 
allowing keyboard input from the keyboard device portion of the device to come 
through without BrlTTY, but I really need to use BrlAPI, and that seems to halt 
keyboard input from the Alva.

And, just for the purpose of isolating problems, I am using exactly the same 
setup as I am using for my Focus40 (except the required brltty.conf changes, of 
course), and that works perfectly.

Be careful. We don't know, yet, if the 2.10 firmware for the Alva BC works on 
Linux for USB. He's using Windows.
