I'm not sure what you are referring to. The *filter* should not be
installed on windows 7 indeed. The *driver* can however be installed on
windows 7, and is thus the only way to brltty work on windows with USB
devices.

As long as you choose the Alva driver, there shouldn't be any hardware
corruption.
