Hi John. Here is the gdm3 script from Debian7. They put it in /etc/init.d/gdm3, so it gets run at boot up. I don't know if your distro will do that, but if not, run it like this:
gdm3 start as root. You should get a gdm3 loggin prompt on tty7. after you log in and start orca, you should get Braille on tty7 also.
