Hi all,
Although it's not the place of advertisement, I recommend taking a look
at eBay because there are displays on a reasonable price including
handitech easy braille, and alva bc640.
It worth typing both in ebay search field "braille display" and google
because I found for example afocus 44 which was not listed for me in
ebay, could be found in google.
I found the mentioned focus 44 here:

Yours sincerely,

I'd check into the new Baum Vario Ultra. Its a hybred braille display
and notetaker. Plus, if you like the old brailliant sells, you'll love
the ones on the ultra. I use a focus 14 for mobile use, but I find my
fingers become fatigued faster when reading from it. It almost feels
like sharper more abrasive braille. I would advise you to find an
access technology seller and get a good feel of as many braille
displays as possible before making your final decision.

Hi!
There are so many devices now a days so you might want to try out your self.
Personally i use a handytech modular evolution 88 on my linux/windows
desktop.
I have a braillex el 40s display for my mac also.
But i must say that handytech really impresses me a lot.
BUt you have to get used to the concave cells they're using.

What's the Alva comfort? Is that any good? Does BRLTTY support it?
I just recently tested a Comfort with BRLTTY and can positively confirm
that it works. I have not used it for very long to give you a useful
impression, I have to say though that I miss the smartpad keys (they
dropped them all from the comfort).
Regarding your general yquestion, it's hard to give any useful input
since the choice of a braille display is, to me, a very personal habit
thing.
If I could throw in one suggestion, I'd suggest looking at a HumanWare
Brailliant
BI40.
I am using a Brailliant B80 as a desktop display since about a year,
and am *very happy* with the response time of these piezzo modules.
I think I have never worked with a display that fast.
It features a braille keyboard, but if I am not mistaken you can
optionally place a real keyboard just across these keys if you dont use
them
and want to bridge the physical gap.
