When I say reset, I mean actually choosing the option to reset to default configuration in the firmware menu, which also seems to power cycle the display. This has been the most reliable way to get out of jams so far.

Thank you very > much. No worries. While we're on the topic, I wonder if you could try and reproduce this: 1. Switch the display off. 2. Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. 3. At this point, my display wakes up and reconnects but no input key works. 4. Long hold the power button; this brings up the make and model greeting. 5. Double-press the power button twice: BRLTTY should disconnect and reconnect, with all keys functioning as expected this time. IOW, it looks like the display isn't waking up properly. My firmware model is 2.0.3, using BRLTTY 5.2.
