Hello,
I've updated to Brltty version 5.4 from the Debian repository. Now the speech
output sounds very
monotonous (using the brltty-espeak package).
My espeak parameters are:
speech-parameters es:Voice=de,es:maxrate=800,es:punctlist=/-.{}
But it happens with all German and English voices and different speed settings.
Next I tried the
latest Brltty from the master branch but the problem persists.
The espeak command itself still works as expected and sounds well:
espeak-ng -v de -s 520 -w output.wav "Hallo Welt" && aplay output.wav
My installed, espeak-related packages are:
s10 /tmp% dpkg -l | grep espeak
ii brltty-espeak 5.4-3
amd64 Access software for a blind person - espeak driver
ii espeak 1.48.04+dfsg-5
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer
ii espeak-data:amd64 1.48.04+dfsg-5
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: speech data files
ii espeak-ng 1.49.0+dfsg-2
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer
ii espeak-ng-data:amd64 1.49.0+dfsg-2
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: speech data files
ii libespeak-ng-dev:amd64 1.49.0+dfsg-2
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: development files
ii libespeak-ng-libespeak-dev:amd64 1.49.0+dfsg-2
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: development files
ii libespeak-ng1:amd64 1.49.0+dfsg-2
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: shared library
ii libespeak1:amd64 1.48.04+dfsg-5
amd64 Multi-lingual software speech synthesizer: shared library
The old espeak package is still required by the speech dispatcher and therefore
not removed yet.
Thanks
Eric
