At the moment, disabling ElasticSearch automatically disables the
`libcurl` dependency, because the Manager does not include the affected
headers. That looks like an acceptable interim solution to me.
In general, the ElasticSearch writer and `libcurl` are tightly coupled and
would benefit from separation of concerns (i.e., create a separate
interface for HTTP communication), but this would fit better in a separate
ticket.
