The DLPI spec. does a poor job of defining it in those terms, but here it

You're right that the DLPI spec. does not give a concrete definition for 
the term, leaving room for interpretation.  The Solaris and HPUX 
implementations of DLPI, however, have historically never included the 
data-link header as being part of the DLSDU.
