Thanks. This whole section is sort of misleading. The problem is not due to driver.conf deficiencies (which are plenty), but because using it for link properties is the wrong tool for the job. Driver.conf is per driver, what networking needs is per link. There's no sense in complaining the screwdriver is rusty while trying to drive nails with it. Thanks for understanding :) -Artem.
