That's what I have in my kitchen, and it works all right. Ok, my pot is only about 19 liters. My stove is just powerful enough to boil the wort. I have noticed that a small piece of dirt on the stove will reduce the heat conduction pretty much, so I try to make sure it is relatively clean before I start to boil. Other than that, no problems. Actually, I don't mash on the stove, I have this 40 liter double bucket system that works quite well.
