You'll be surprised how easy and practical those modern dry yeasts are.
For a normal homebrew batch of about 20 liters, you don't really need a
starter. Just rehydrate the yeast (boil 5dl water, cool down, add yeast,
wait a while, stir gently) for something like half an hour before
pitching. You should get an active fermentation going within a few
hours. Leave enough room in your fermenter for a good head!
