Ok
What errors are you getting?

4.2 is not released Yet.
So What you can now get from CVS are

1) 4.1 Release or prior
2) 4.1 Stable ( i.e Release + Security updates )
3) 4.2 current snapshot
4) 4.2 current from CVS ( '3'&'4' are not exactly 4.2 but a little
more advanced than 4.2, it will become 4.3 current as soon as 4.2 is
released )

So I hope you got one of the snapshots running in order to get 4.2 right?

If so you will need to get the Kernel and userland and ports in sync
for things to work some times. Ports do not compile at all sometimes
if you use snapshots. It is the development branch.

But you will be able to get things from CVS anyhow. ( Provided you
gave a valid CVSROOT and used the cvs commands correctly and obviously
if the cvs utility in your system is not corrupted. )

If things are not working properly then

# cd /usr
#rm -rf ports
#cd /tmp
#ftp http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/distro/OpenBSD/snapshots/ports.tar.gz
#cd /usr
#tar -xzvf /tmp/ports.tar.gz

But make sure you used the bsd.rd in ( hope you are on i386 arch )
http://gulus.usherbrooke.ca/pub/distro/OpenBSD/snapshots/i386/bsd.rd

to boot to your system and choose "upgrade" option to upgrade your
kernel and userland from the latest snapshot too.

A few helpful links are

http://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade41.html

You can use the upgrade tips from here to upgrade your snapshots.

Or you can compile your own kernel and userland

http://www.openbsd.org/anoncvs.html#EXAMPLE

http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq5.html#Bld

Hope this helps :-)

Kind Regards

Siju
