Hi Dru and everyone,

I have not spoken seriously with my editor yet. At this point I am
not sure if I will pursue the project. I am happy to hear from
everyone (especially Hubert as a NetBSD technical editor), but I think
my expectations do not match reality.

I was hoping to see responses along these lines:

1. "I will write the xBSD sections for all domains"
2. "I will write domain(s) X (and Y, maybe Z) for all BSDs."

Based on the interest for either approach, I was going to decide on a
domain-centric or flavor-centric writing team.

Either approach would have concentrated the work in a manageable set
of hands. That is really what is needed when writing a book, in my
opinion.

Based on the responses that I've seen, maybe something along the lines
of a Wiki would be more appropriate. I don't see that approach
converging on an authoritative document any time soon, but it might be
the way to include people who want to help. I do not plan to be a
Wiki manager, though!

I do not know how Addison-Wesley handles translations. I do not
believe my previous books have appeared in anything but English yet.

Right now I am either considering going it alone on the BSD book, or
dropping the project entirely. If anyone wants to contribute as an
domain or xBSD expert in line with options 1 or 2 above, please let me
know.

Thank you,

Richard
