legends DJ Red Alert and "Uncle" Ralph McDaniels are teaming up to
host "She's My DJ," an all-female DJ battle competition.
Sponsored by Gemini Sound Equipment, Femmixx.com and Mocha Works Marketing,
the competition will have some of the hottest up and coming female DJs battling
it out for the prestige of being the best mix and scratch DJ in the North
East.
"[We view] this is the perfect opportunity,"
Femmixx.com founder Tachelle Wilkes said in a statement. "To show the music industry
that two women can work together successfully and pull off a groundbreaking
event which highlights women and Hip-Hop in a positive
light."
Red Alert and McDaniels are showing their support of
the effort to put ladies first by participating as the hosts for the evening as
well as the guest judges.
"As icons of Hip-Hop music and video, it was
an honor when Red Alert said he would get involved," Mocha Works founder
Danielle Brantley said in a statement, " [Once] Ralph confirmed he could be a
part of the competition as well, we knew it would be a
success."
"She's My DJ" is scheduled to be held on November
8th, 2005 at SOB's in New York City. For more information on the competition,
