Hi all, I've been looking at the issues around panel and session crashes after installing/removing/updating packages
As you know we have had to disable the automatic update of the menu system when an application is removed or installed - this is because there is an underlying GNOME bug that crashes the panel or can kill the whole session. I've got a proposed fix which I need 16.04 Xenial users to test please and feed back - I'll follow up later with the same fix fo 16.10 users later. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:budgie-remix/menu-refresh sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade reboot Please give this a good test - installing/removing single & groups of applications. Make sure the corresponding entry in the menu system is either added or removed respectively. If you see a panel crash please see if you can reproduce the issue - I need to see the trace in the terminal when the panel crashes. Run MENU_VERBOSE=1 budgie-panel --replace & before testing. To remove the testing PPA and packages run sudo ppa-purge ppa:budgie-remix/menu-refresh Many thanks.
