Actually, by setting CONTROL-Ds-TO-EXIT 1, I have to type it twice and I
still get the message, plus the extra blank lines:
$ apl
^D
^D
*** end of input
$
If I set it to 2, I have to type it 3 times, with the message, and so on. I
have tried the latest svn head on both GNU/Linux and OS X.
