Could you load the package "trace" and place
\traceon
immediately before \maketitle
and
\traceoff
behind it?
It might help in figuring out what affects your \maketitle.
I am not sure exactly which information you need.
I have now added \usepackage{trace} in the preamble and put
\traceon/\traceoff before/after \maketitle .
C-c C-p C-p now stops (interactively) with the message:
