Loading the enclosed file text.dtx will open it in doctex-mode. M-q

The file contains an insane corner-case. Can you provide a full minimal
example where \verb*\ * is a valid LaTeX construct? I failed to produce
one.

I know this is buggy LaTeX input and it results in an error message. But should it cause an infinite loop in AUCTeX? I didn't in 11.82 which was the one I was able to test against.

% \textsf{a line of text here and then a blank line
%
% and then the text continues}

is not valid LaTeX either as \textXX commands don't allow \par tokens but this doesn't cause similar problems.

I would like to point out that I did not reverse engineer this: I just happen to make typos quite frequently.

Cheers,
